I believe this is the hill they will die on.
But will republicans be willing? I think the repubs, holding tough as they are right now, are going to cave if the shutdown gets to christmas, or maybe thanksgiving.
I don't have any confidence in them at all.
And I don't think withholding paychecks is enough. When a situation like this comes up, we need a clause in the constitution that says not one of the congress critters and not one of the senators can go up for re-election.
And everyone of the staff members of their offices will be terminated and new ones hired. The old ones cannot be re-hired.
This shutdown may be good in some respects. The longer this goes on hopefully the public will see we don't need the fed .gov as much as they think we do.
Unfortunately only time will reveal that.

It is almost unbelievable how divided we are in this country. I think we are more divided than at the beginning of the Civil War.

I haven't packed a bearing in several decades. But back when I used to do that sort of thing, I would have used this thing a lot. I always used to do it by hand, and that was messy. Worked well, but messy.

My last bill I am getting charged for peak hours of use a rate of $0.62569 per kwh. Off peak is $0.50269.
In four years, 2027-2030, they gonna raise their rates about $4.5 billion per year.

This government shutdown looks to me like it could go on for a few more weeks, maybe even months. Could go down as the longest one in our history.
But according to the article, in november money for snap benefits goes away unless .gov has a miracle pulled out of its ass.
Millions of americans and illegal aliens alike are not gonna get their "free" money. And then what happens.
Maybe nothing. But more likely we are gonna see a whole bunch more people in the streets throwing bricks & flaming bottles.
Thanksgiving might be a little different this year.
