Shit like this is why our justice system is such bullshit. This guy says a Plain English Reading of a law is incorrect. HE says until this law is interpreted we can't know what the law means.

His argument makes the case for getting rid of lawyers. They twist plain English into self serving gibberish and make a lot of money doing it. I was speaking to a lawyer friend of friend who explained it like this. He said "you and Van make things. Lawyers just steal".

ReplyDeleteI totally agree with this guy. Here in Texas I had the privilege(?) of getting folks committed to mental health facilities for care. I read the statute in plain English; the county lawyer read it in lawyer-ese. We went round and round as to who/what/how we could get people into mental health facilities. After 5 years I left that position and SHAZAM!?!?!? Now "they" are using MY interpretation of the statutes in getting help for those folks. Funni-that.
ReplyDeletethis is actually very true...and on top of that, large cities/areas around large cities, will add their own extra to a statute to make it more difficult to file cases...cities like dallas, houston, etc...it helps keep the crime stats down...and you have to take in to account how the police look at the law and how they apply it, right or wrong...
