This would have been nice to have way back when.

 I haven't packed a bearing in several decades. But back when I used to do that sort of thing, I would have used this thing a lot. I always used to do it by hand, and that was messy. Worked well, but messy.

  1. I've had a 2 piece bearing packer for 25 years at least. It's basically 2 cones, the bottom one is similar to the one in the video, the top one threads down a hollow rod through the middle sticking up from the bottom half and it has a grease zerk on top. You screw the top down with the bearing in the middle and pump grease in. I think it was a Lyle product also. Works great.

  2. I have the bearing packer Dad bought 50 years ago. It consists of a tube filled with grease, a hollow tube with a piston to force the grease up the tube, a round concave plate at the top and a round convex fixture on a handle. The bearing is laid in the lower fixture and the top one pressed down sealing the center of the bearing and forcing the grease out between the rollers. Still works after all these years and hundreds of bearings.
