Gotta Be Over 18 to Buy Cooler Coating

Have you gone recently to a big box store, like lowe's, and go to checkout and find there are no checkers and no checkout booths?

Except for self checkout. There are 4 of those.

Except 2 of them say you can only use a card to pay. The other 2 say cash and card. Can't wait for the day they all say card only.

Yesterday I went to lowes and at self checkout there was a pretty young thing to help.

First thing I did was tell her I should write to corporate demanding a 25% discount since I had to check myself out.

She just looked at me.

Got everything scanned except one pvc fitting. She had to manually enter the scan number to get it to work.

Went to pay and the screen lit up and said make sure customer is over 18 to buy this product. She tapped the screen before I could see what it was.

Turns out it was this:

I swear. Govmint is going to protect us to death.

  1. Yeah, well one of the reasons why you have to "age check" that stuff is due to all of the "graffiti arteeeeeeests" that populate inner cities. Seems that our betters/elites thought that they could hinder those arteeeeeests by hindering who could purchase the cans of paint.
Kinda sounds like their arguments for "gun control"
Hindering the purchase of those cans of paint really stymied the local arteeeeests, didn't it?

  2. They actually expect them to PAY for them?

And that’s why if you’re lucky enough to have a local hardware store, you’re better off to shop there. Mine always has a cashier at the register, they are generally cheaper or they price match and their boards are usually straight.

  4. I bought a couple cans of paint at a Bomgaars store and had to certify that I was over 18. I'm 74 and gray as can be and still had to answer that I was old enough to buy a can of paint and the kid checkout guy must be in his late teens.

  5. I have 2 local hardware stores in my town of 10k. They rape you every time you come in the store because they know you have to drive another 20 minutes to get to HomeD or Lowes and much lower prices. Local isnt always better.

  6. That's right- they actually have the product you need, when you need it, where you need it, and save you 40 minutes of your life, and a gallon of gas and they are ripping you off. Maybe they even employ some locals.
    Think instead of react.
