Last week I got a letter from my credit union.
When I got it from the mailbox I noticed it was not my usual statement envelope. It looked like---a letter.
Well shit. Here recently when I get---a letter---it doesn't carry good news.
So, with some amount of trepidation I gingerly opened it.
And what to my eyes should appear, but a nice surprise.
Seems like I have some rewards points on my credit card account. I didn't know I had reward points.
The letter said they expire in December so get em now while the gittin is good. It also said they had something new. Instead of buying merchandise I could redeem the points for cash.
Well crap that motivated me. Cash instead of merchandise? Sign me up!
And I'll be goddamn if I didn't get $445 from those damn points.
Holy smokes. Maybe I should get a few more cards so I can get some more of those points. As the kids say, Just Kiddin.
Every company that requires me to pay set up online payments (phone, internet, insurance, etc.) I set them up to pay with my credit card. That way I build reward points all year long and keep them out of my checking account.
