What the Heck?

Have you ever heard of a variable gap sparkplug? That's a new one on me.

  1. They're on the parts shelf next to the muffler bearings and blinker fluid.

  2. Back in the early 70's my cousin's 68 Roadrunner with a 383 Magnum wasn't running right. His weren't adjustable, but five had the center electrode burned into the porcelain and the other three ground electrodes were almost burned back to the plug. The points weren't much better. After I replaced the plugs and put in new points and condenser he couldn't believe how well it ran.
I've never seen a plug that the porcelain came loose from the steel like that one but having drag raced and blown up a few motors I have seen them with the electrodes mashed together.
