My late wife's car won't start. I haven't done any troubleshooting except to watch the tachometer as I crank it. There is no rpm indicated as it cranks. What I have been able to glean from the internet is that it should be a hundred to two hundred rpm as it cranks.
So, instead of troubleshooting I am going to be a parts changer. The new sensor is $27, so it is cheap enough I can afford to do that.
Wish me luck.
Here's wishing you good luck.
ReplyDeleteDo you have one of those code readers? They run about $40 at Advance or those places...it may direct you right at your problem.
Most computer-controlled cars won't show RPM until the engine starts and the key is released from the "Start" position. I agree with X; get yourself a code reader. If the CPS is bad, the reader will show a code for it. Yeah, it'll cost more than the sensor alone, but for one, it will offer proof that the sensor is bad, and you'll use it again and again further down the line.
