After 2 months and 3 days I finally had an mri of my shoulder done. And if I had thought to ask 6 weeks ago what the cash pay price for this mri was I would have had this mri 6 weeks ago.
But thats what comes from making assumptions.
Saw my doctor 2 weeks ago and he said he would try for another authorization from insurance to do an mri. Got a text from them last Tuesday saying the mri was denied again. So I called the doc's office to find out where do I go from here?
They said we will call you back. Riiight.
Today was one week and no call. I had physical therapy again this morning. That office is right next door to the doc. So I walk over and said where do I go from here? She said an appointment with the doc is required. Then I asked: How much does this stupid mri cost anyway?
She said: $450 bucks if I pay cash.
Shit. Shit shit shit shit shit. If I had asked that question 6 weeks ago I would have had the mri already. I can pay that. I thought it was gonna be 8k or more. Thats why I wanted insurance to pay.
So then I said that I was going to schedule the mri, but she said hold up a second and went in the back to talk to someone. That lady came out and said she had appealed the denial and that it had been approved. WTF?
She said someone would call me in a day or so to schedule. I went home. She called an hour later, said there was a cancellation and could I come in at 2pm?
So here I finally got that done. Got a followup with the doc next tuesday. Wish me luck.
And with that MRI they have now sterilized you so no reproducing... Lucky you don't live in Canada, they would have euthanized you.
ReplyDeleteMRI scanners use no radiation- so no possibilty of sterilization.
DeleteI know that, there are other methods to sterilization beside radiation.
Delete$450?? for an MRI.. that's heck of deal. Last fall I had to have one of the prostate... $5600 not covered by my dolar store insurance. Three grand of that was just for a half a CC of poison they inject in you to paralyze the gut so the can see the confounded thing better. I'm now paying it off in $500 monthly installments. ReplyDeletedraw back for paying out of pocket for one is it doesn't go towards your deductible...they are way cheaper compared to getting one with insurance...i paid $1600 with insurance for one back in 2021 and could have paid for one cash for $700...it's all a scam...
