  2. That is untrue. The positive grounded cars have no more or less rust than Negative grounded cars. The circuit is the same, the direction of current makes no difference in the amount of corrosion.
    There is no real reason other than at some point Ford chose Negative Ground and then Chevrolet followed though. IIRC, Dodge held out for many years as positive ground vehicles.

    It became a more standardized thing as more electronics became more prevalent...radios, etc.
    Now nearly all cars are negative ground, but it could have just as easily gone the other way.
