Well today is the last day I can legally drive my 2003 Dodge Dakota.
Here in California we have to get smog certification before we can register our vehicles.
This year my vehicle will not pass smog. The idiot over at the smog place said that it was blowing bluish whitish smoke. It is not he insists that it is and unfortunately I have to abide by his decision so I put my truck on non operational status as of today.( if somebody wants to come over and kick the crap out of him make him see how the cow eats the cabbage I'll pay you 50 bucks.)

NH would be thrilled to see your truck 4 sale here.
ReplyDeleteSalt eats ours long before most other issues.
Minnesota is only 2/3rd the journey to NH, I've got a freshly rebuilt 5.9 to put in it....
DeleteGo to the blacks and buy a sticker.
ReplyDeleteTry the original snake Oil Marvel mystery oil just read the directions on the can. The stuff really works. The smoke will disappear
ReplyDeleteYeah. How about Casite Motor Honey? Is that stuff still around? Either that, or change to a higher viscosity oil, have the truck smogged, and then change the oil back to what the engine calls for. Cheaper than a new truck!
DeleteAnd Marvel Mystery Oil (MMO) isn't really "snake oil." It actually does what it's supposed to do. It was originally invented during WW1 to keep the carbs in military vehicles from fouling up. It's formula hasn't changed since. I use that stuff in the fuel of all of my yard and garden equipment and in my boat. It keeps the carbs clean and also stabilizes the fuel. I've occasionally left equipment with MMO in the fuel to sit for a year or more without starting it (shame on me!), only to have it start on the 2nd pull!
We have to tolerate a far-left mega liberal who supports every radical government mandate, tax increase, and regulation. But he knows how to get around everything he voted for, including vehicle pollution standards. His vehicles are registered out of state. He makes his money by providing evidence others have complied with government mandates.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion having a shop (or DIY) rebuild the engine replace the now oil fouled cat and whatever you need will still be cheaper than a new truck. And it will probably be more reliable too.
ReplyDeleteMove to Tuolumne County. For some reason, we don't have to do that.
ReplyDeleteGo to a speed shop and ask where you can "smog it dirty." They'll know what you mean, and will tell you where to go. If you know Spanish, ask the next Mexican in the landscape truck in front of you that's blowing blue or black smoke, but has current tags. They'll know where to go as well... As in politics, it's all about ho you know...
ReplyDeleteOpen a montana dba title and sticker it there. Or sell it to a friend in another state and have him send new tags and license.
