Remember these cars? These were some of the true muscle cars.
Cars today are simple wimps compared to these. I had a 1969 Buick GS400 and that thing was pretty fast, but not like these. In 73 a friend of mine bought a Chevelle with the 454 and 4 spd transmission. That thing was extremely fast.
What did, or do, you guys drive?
I bought a 1971 Mustang MACH-I with a 351 Cleveland, 4 bbl and 4 speed trans. However, I didn't buy it to race. I bought it to pick up babes. It did that job well. Unfortunately, it began to fall apart after about 8 months and 16,000 miles.
ReplyDeleteHubby had a 1971 Firebird convertible. On listing the owner called it a furbird.
ReplyDeleteMy first car in 1974 was a '65 Malibu SS. 2-speed trans. It was a cruiser with a nice, big, back seat. Muscle cars back then looked cool but were pretty much death traps for teenaged drivers and expensive to own. Too many kids at our school were either maimed or killed for being stupid with their cars.
ReplyDeleteI had a '65 MGB that would leave the muscle cars in the dust on a curvy road. They would get slightly pissed about that.
ReplyDelete1969 Camaro z28 w/DZ 302. An amazing car I wish I'd never sold. Bought it in 78' Sold it in 85'. Dumb, Dumb, Dumb ; (
ReplyDeleteSame here. Had a 69 buick gs 400. Bought it in 72 traded it about 1980. Really stupid, wish I had kept that car.
DeleteI still drive my "71 El Camino
