What good can come from destroying a regime dedicated to developing nuclear weapons in order to bring on the Apocalypse and destroy the Great Satan? I can think of a little. America has to thread a needle. If we wait to long and the Iranian regime is bloodthirsty enough to engage in massive murder, we will be blamed by the next regime for leaving them in the lurch if they do win, or demonstrated to be all talk and no walk if they fail. On the other hand, we can't simply go in and put a regime in place, since they would be seen as puppets without legitimacy.
ReplyDeleteSo... we have to provide enough support to tip the scales but not enough to take "credit" for everything, and we have to do it before blood flows too deeply in the streets.
If we avoid putting our men on the ground, and assist the people of Iran in removing the current regime, a lot of good can come of it. The various wedges that Trump is employing is interesting to watch. Greenland to stop Russian and Chinese interests; Venezuela to remove China, and Cuba's petro supplies; Iran to stop the flow of arms to Russian, and stop the chummy relationship of Iran, Russia, China. All that, and no hot war. Please God, protect the orange man even if he is a very damaged human being.
