Clothes Washer Woes

 Yesterday I washed some of my grungy clothes. In the process of that, when the washer went into the spin cycle it sounded like someone banging on the inside of the cabinet with a hammer.

I had noticed before the washer was shaking but I thought I had fixed it by rearranging the load.

I opened the lid and the basket was leaning to the left. I thought to myself: OOPs!

So as usual I took to youtube for technical support. The machine in the video is the same as my machine. Except mine says maytag, not whirlpool. Apparently they have the same manufacturer.

In my case somehow one of the suspension rods had completely come out of its socket which caused the whole shitaree to be completely off kilter.

I called my local parts store, they said it is a kit of four for 130 bucks. Online parts stores want 80 bucks. I'm thinking my local parts store buys stuff online and then marks it up.

I decided to try and reinstall the rod, and I was successful and now it spins like it is supposed to.

I hope it stays that way.

I recently had to work on my 99 dakota pickup ac. I was using my harbor freight ac gauge set and I was having trouble making heads or tails of the info I was getting.

So I watched a few(dozens) of youtube videos about ac in cars and came to the conclusion that my orifice tube or dryer was plugged up.

Not a super big deal, unless you don't know how to release the connections on the tubing and dryer. Which I did not.

You have to use a tool designed for disconnecting fuel lines.

When I finally figured it out, I tell ya I felt like a complete dumbass.

But I got it done. Got out my harbor freight vacuum pump and started pulling a vacuum. Had a heck of a time holding vacuum until I figured out the damn low and high pressure adaptors on the gauge set were leaking air.

Added R134A freon to the system in the required amount and got really good cold air.

That was about a month ago and it is still working. Thank God. It's already getting too hot for me.

Did you know the idiot powers that be are phasing out r134a freon in favor of something called hfo1234yf.

That's bullcrap. The stuff is "mildly flammable" and costs about 10 times more than 134.

 How many of you have insurance on your home?

Every year I get an escrow statment from my mortgage company detailing the last years payments. And then I get a letter every year saying my escrow monthly payment is going up again. Escrow pays my homeowner insurance. And property taxes.

My mortgage payment is almost back to what it was before I refinanced to lower it about 15 years ago.

I checked with my insurance company and found out from dec. of 20 to dec of 24 my annual insurance rate has gone up by 48%.

I called my insurance company and the lady came up with some pureass bullshit. I said I was tired of them raising my rates. Her response? This insurance company did not raise your rates. The insurance commission did. 

WTF???

I haven't checked on property taxes yet but they have also gone up. But not 48%. By law that is limited, I think to 2%.

And my auto insurance has gone up yet again.

If I could go back in time, I would find everyone who instituted this bullshit insurance crap. And kill them.

Well crap. I like tomatoes. I try and grow some every year but my green thumb has changed colors.

I now only (try) to grow cherry tomatos in pots. I have 3 plants now that is plenty for me.

How does a tomato become contaminated with salmonella? Can't it be washed off? Hell I don't know.

I know all of the packing houses out here have to run their product thru a shower of water laced with chlorine to kill all the bad stuff. And yet still manage to miss some of the bad stuff and have recalls.

Help Me If You Can

 I have an auto repair question. Maybe you guys can help.

My daughter has a 2015 ford escape. When she starts it, it runs normal with no unauthorized noises.

Put it in reverse, same thing no problem. Neutral is good. 

But when it goes into drive it has a grumbling rumbling sound. I stood outside and listened to it, but it does not sound like the noise is coming from the transmission area. It's a sideways motor, trans is on driver side.

Couldn't tell for sure where the noise is coming from, except when I'm in the driver seat and put it in drive, it sounds to me like it's coming from directly under the gear shift.

 My grandson called me a few minutes ago. He was on his way home from work.

It's getting hot here, gonna be 100+ here in a bit. The warehouse he works in he said had to be over a 100 already. He said they had started to bring in some big fans to help out.

Then he said there were ceiling fans installed at the ceiling. The brand name is Big Ass Fans. He said the blades were 20 feet long or so.

I said bs and looked them up. Get a load of this:  Big Ass HVLS Fan, Basic 6 24 ft. Ceiling Fan - 1.5 kW, F-PF62-2402S34S65X2

That sucker has 24 foot blades. Per side. $6000+ for that puppy.

Holy smokes can you imagine the boom lift going up that high to install that thing?
