That is the best reason I have heard with leaving the toilet lid. I grew up with four sisters and a brother and that was a common issue in the house, the lid up. I finally told my sisters one night at dinner after hearing about it for the ten thousandths time. I stated: " I will leave the toilet seat down, I really don't care which hole I pee through, and I am not cleaning up after." My mother and dad busted out laughing and cough their food up... My sisters learned after to not complain the lid was up.
