The 19th Amendment

First lady Melania Trump announces White House art exhibit celebrating women’s suffrage.

Women got the right to vote with the ratification of the 19th amendment. And, unfortunately, that is all of the history I know of that.  I don't remember if I was taught anything of that back in high school.  Granted, that was 50 years ago, and I wasn't high but I definitely had a buzz going on saturday night.

I know my wife has voted in each election since I met her, which was in 1973.  And she is pretty sharp when it comes to that kind of stuff, sharper than some of the men I have known over the years.  Matter of fact, some of the men I knew in the past were in  the running for being dumber than a sack of hammers.

And when it comes to voting, maybe it's time to reinstitute some type of knowledge test. Lets say maybe the voters should be able to tell shit from shinola.

  1. "Lets say maybe the voters should be able to tell shit from shinola." I whole heartily second that! I too think you have to do two things, show a picture ID and pass a history/civics short exam to be qualified to vote each time you vote.

  2. Amen to that. Only qualified people should vote.
