My wife and I have been taking vitamin c supplements for quite a while, I think they probably help our immune systems. I have heard for a while now that vitamin d deficiency in people with the covid seems to play a part in more people dying.
Don't have a clue if that is so or not. I did some internet research but didn't really find a definitive answer. I read this article tonight about it, and it seems to indicate taking vitamin d helps to fight off the covid, but it says do not take mega doses of vitamin d.
Here is an excerpt:
And although a major a link between COVID-19 and vitamin D has not been drawn, there is still research that suggests taking the supplement may help with immune function. One large meta-analysis published by Harvard University in 2017, for example, found that taking vitamin D may help prevent serious respiratory infections, such as influenza, especially in those who are deficient in the vitamin.

Unless you're out in the sun every day, at our ages, we need vitamin D3 supplements. Next time you go to the doc and get blood work ask to get an order for Vitamin D. It's likely low.
ReplyDeleteYep, my. PA has had me on d3 for a while now. This PA is the only doc I have ever had who called me to discuss my health.
ReplyDeletelook for a calcium supplement (at our age it's a good idea) with d3 included. it's usually a low dose, so makes it easier to take...and remember to take.
