I checked a few of the prices versus amazon, this place appears to be less expensive, but you have to buy a little more to get free shipping.
I still don't know why i am on their mailing list. I don't go camping and have never bought anything from them.

Well, My Old Truck is Still Not Repaired
Gill auto in madera are still a bunch of idiots. They have been waiting on a computer for my truck to arrive for 10 working days now.
They called wednesday and said it will be there friday morning early, come drop your truck off and we'll giterdone.
Dropped off at 7:30 am, got their shuttle ride home(wasn't allowed to sit in the front seat next to the driver, too close i guess).
4:09 pm i hadn't heard from them, so i call. Ask for status on my truck. He says oh crap, lemme check. Comes back and says story i'm getting now is it will be here tomorrow. Let me keep the truck we'll get it done by 2. If not it'll be monday.
Whaddaya bet come monday they still won't have a clue?
I called a company in new york called flagship auto computer, and they say i can get the CORRECT computer shipped next day air, takes about two days to process it and programmed. For a lot less money. But, gill screwed my truck up so bad it won't idle without pressing the accelerator and the abs is screwed up now and it doesn't want to stop right anymore. So i don't want to let them get away without fixing that, but they say the new computer will fix that.
As the saying goes, oh lord give me strength not to strangle the living shit out of someone today.

A Helluva Deal
On July 12, 2020 I placed an order with amazon, which I thought was a helluva deal.
A quantity of 6 270 watt solar panels, for $1,221.94, plus tax and freight. I checked out the other sizes and quantities and all others amounted to more money per panel. So I chose the 6 panel option. I ordered them, and paid for them, and sat back to wait. And wait. And wait some more.
Delivery scheduled for July 24 by 8pm. Helluva deal. They even gonna set em on the porch for me.
July 24 comes and goes, the amazon order says sorry, delivery is running behind schedule, now expected between now and july 31. Delivery is usually one day after they were expected.
So I click on track package, and it says package has shipped, and gives me a tracking number with something called CEVA. Apparently they ship stuff.
Wellp, found the CEVA tracking page, insert the number and it says sorry no such number found.
Well crap. I forget where, but I found a phone number for CEVA. I called it and went thru the process to punch numbers to tell them what I want, and I sit back to wait. And wait. And wait for 40 minutes, with no end in sight, no disconnected voice to say you are number such and such in line, no one saying your call is important to us, just music. So I hang up.
And call back, go thru the process(thinking this time someone will immediately answer the phone) and wait and wait and wait for another 40 minutes, just music. So I get on amazon and find a place to live chat with a representative, and it says would you like us to call you, like RFN? And I say sure. And this guy calls me RMFN, and he is some pakistani or hindustani or something and you can tell he is just about out of his gourd with frustration, you can hear it in his voice.
So I explain the situation to him and he says Let me check the tracking number. Then comes back and says the tracking number doesn't show up. Then he says thats all I can do, or do you want me to call the shipper? I say yes, thinking he has this magical hotline to the shipper. Well guess what, he gets to call the same number I do. And we wait and wait and wait some more. After about 15 minutes I tell him thanks, and hang up.
So here it is July 31 at 3:41 pm and no solar panels. Click on track package and it says Now Expected Today. And I think to myself, Probably by 8pm.
So I will sit here and wait.

Greater Depression
Is a greater depression on the horizon within the next few months? Some people think so. Personally, I don't think it will rise to the level of depression. I think what we will have is going to be a few times worse.

Off Grid Hot Water
This last spring I had the plumbing in my house replaced. The plumber used a product called pex pipe. Before this I have never heard of it. But I tell you what, uninsulated pex tubing in the attic this summer has picked up heat to the cold water line like you wouldn't believe.
When we turn on the cold water in the kitchen, it runs cold for a second or two, then starts warming up. And it gets probably 20°F hotter than the water heater does. It is actually hot enough to burn your hand, until it finally cools off from the incoming cold water.
So, this product would probably work well to make an offgrid water heater. Build a box about 4x4, run this pex tubing in coils inside the box( it comes in coiled form already), paint it black, put a plastic cover on, and voila, hot water off grid. You could use this to be the inlet to the water heater. In winter i imagine you would have to remove and drain it though.
Have any of you made something like this before? How well does it work?

It's "just a mask" & "safety precautions".

Why is it STILL so Hard to Fix an Older Vehicle
Update: These sons a bitches don't know how to pick up a phone and call somebody to let them know the status of the repair work on their vehicle.
If I get this thing back in one piece I will be surprised. The computer was supposed to be here last Thursday, pick up the truck Friday. Nope.
The computer will be here midnight Saturday night they said, the guy has a key to get in. Nope.
Waited all day for a phone call. Never came. Drove over about 2 pm. THEN the guy picks up the phone to call his parts department to see if the fuckin computer got in!!!!! Nope.
Wherever the hell the vendor is is shutdown due to Cough 19. But my computer has already shipped boy. Be here tomorrow.
I asked him why didn't they ship it next day air? Nothing but a blank stare from around his mask.
I told him I will pick my truck up tomorrow fixed or not, I got to haul some chemical to my customers. Won't do that in my wifes car, and don't have another pickup available.

Why Is It So Difficult to Repair an Older Vehicle?
I have a 2003 Dodge Dakota which has had a check engine light for about a year. I have put off repairing it because I had plenty of time before I had to get it smogged for registration. Well guess what, here it is two weeks before registration is due, and I haven't repaired it yet. I am a lazy ****** when it comes to getting stuff done on time.
I worked on it myself several months ago. The problem is both oxygen sensors have a code that says heater circuit malfunction. I replaced both sensors because they are both old, but that didn't cure the problem. Then I delayed, because plenty of time, and I simply didn't want to mess with it, because I am a lazy curmudgeon.
I troubleshot it down to the point I believed I had a bad computer. I didn't want to spend the money on a new one without a professional diagnosis, so I took it to a garage I have used over the years. They said it required 2 new oxygen sensors and a computer software upgrade. Well, that didn't cure the problem, so they said my truck didn't like the aftermarket oxygen sensors and required the Dodge mopar sensors. More money of course. So they put on the Dodge mopar sensors, and guess what, problem is not solved. So they did some more looking, said a new computer wouldn't fix it, and that I required a sensor that had 13 ohms instead of the normal 4 ohms. Problem is NOBODY knows what the hell the garage is talking about, because there simply isn't a 13 ohm sensor anywhere in the known world. So I had them put the old sensors back on, and now I got my truck at the local Dodge house. They said yep, needs a computer. Today is Friday, they ordered the part Tuesday, but still not here. They don't know if it will arrive today.

California Beauty Parlors Have a Federation to Speak for Them
Who knew that beauty parlors, nail salons, barbers all had to have a license? I guess it is stupid of me, but I didn't know that. Anyway, here in california they have been hit hard by the covid shutdown, being blamed for the outbreak when gov. newsom said the first case came from a nail salon. He said that without any evidence by the way.
Anyway, these people have a group called Professional Beauty Federation of California and they threatened ole newsom with a lawsuit if he didn't let them open.

Florida Hospitals are Not Overwhelmed
Everywhere I look, I see that hospitals are overwhelmed with patients due to covid. Here locally the radio breathlessly said they are 90% full. Even though the biggest hospital here says they laid off about 300 workers due to lack of patients. Makes me wonder.
This story is out of florida, where a hospital system ceo says icu's are stocked, fully prepared and not overwhelmed. I certainly hope that is the case.

100% Positivity Rate
Some labs in florida are reporting 100% positive covid test results. Others are reporting 80-90% positive covid test results.
Apparently, there are "errors" in reporting. One place reported 98% positive but the actual rate is 9.4%. Manipulate the numbers much?
