Seems to me if you just carry a spare belt, you will be okay. All of my vehicles have the last used serpentine belt stuck under the hood for a just in case.
I remember losing a belt on a clothes dryer or a washer, I forget which. On a sunday. Went to the hardware store and got some ugly orange 3/8" tubing, cut it to exact length, stuck a nail in between the two loose ends, taped it up. I'll be doggone if it didn't work. Went the next day and got a belt.
