I used a stoppered Groetz beer bottle as a water canteen, wrapped in a pair of wool socks and leather wine bottle sleeve. Socks are multi-purpose items, keeping hands warm or protected as well as feet comfort. I know a canteen makes more sense for drinking but this works well for me. I'm weird I guess.
