I just now watched a movie on youtube called The Big Country. It stars Gregory Peck and Charlton Heston, Burl Ives plays a bad guy, and Chuck Connors plays his badguy son.

It is a western. If you like westerns, i recommend this one. It isn't an academy award winner as far as i know, and Burl Ives doesn't sing, but it is entertaining. A bit long at almost 3 hours, and it does have several ads in it.

Here is a link:  The Big Country

  1. Thanks for the tip. I've been getting into Westerns lately. We have some local, digital over air channels where I've been watching old TV shows like "Rawhide", "Wanted Dead or Alive" and "Have Gun Will Travel". Or cable provider has now added a station called Screen Pix Westerns where they show "Wild, Wild West". Normally after seeing episodes of that show I'd change channels, but lately I've been leaving it on and watching some of the movies that they have on. They do have some big name films, but a lot of them I never heard of before. Last week I saw one called "Rebel In Town" starring John Payne, Ruth Roman and J. Carroll Naish. I thought that it was pretty good. BTW, I still have my 1960 vintage "Have Gun Will Travel" lunch box in a display case in the game room. For some reason my mother saved it for all those years and gave it to me about two decades ago. Yeah, I'm an old geezer.......

    1. We have comcast for tv and i too watch those old western tv shows. They are much better than the current crop of crap on tv.

  2. Giant is another epic western from the old days with a star studded cast.
