ReplyDeleteJust a note on the Helicopter; the H-3 normally uses one engine as an auxiliary power unit (APU) to get things started before the rotor brake is released. The VH-3, Marine One, has a separate and smaller APU to power the aircraft. The rotor usually starts spinning after everyone is on board.

ReplyDeleteAlso regarding the helo. They use a flight of 3 helicopters, (so no one knows which one to shoot down) so it might also have been one of the other choppers' engine.
