Wristrocket/slingshot. Does anyone use them?

I have a lowend wristrocket/slingshot, but  I have never used it enough to be proficient.

I have been thinking about getting a better one and I found several places that have reviewed "the best ones".

Best Survival Slingshots In 2022

That is a link to just one of the reviews I found.

What got me to thinking about this is a story I read recently. The girl who is the main character of the story used a wristrocket/slingshot to shoot a guy in the "right manboob." Laughed my ass off at that cause thats gotta hurt.

But I thought then that maybe one of those should be part of my preps.

Do any of you guys own/use one?

If you can't find an original, the SR-7 is the closest true repro version.

I like some of the newer high-tech ones with multiple bands, but the original would put meat from small game (birds, squirrels) on the table, or put out an eye, with equal ease.

They aren't for self defense, but if you're looking for survival hunting with no noise, they're right up that alley.

There are also some that'll send arrows, including for fish, with attached reels, which gets you another level of goodness.

    1. I remember reading that post but I completely forgot. Looking at some of the pics on the reviews, people are trying to improve the wristrocket out of existence. A simple one like the SR7 you linked to will do me nicely.

  2. I used to use a wrist rocket to shag bears out of the yard. Good for black bears - the big coastal brown bears I just yelled at and used an air horn while holding the .45-70. There's a fine line between irritating and pissing off an 800+ lb bear.

    1. I imagine there is quite a fine line. One I would like to stay on the right side of.

  3. You've been reading "Up On Hartford Ridge", haven't you. I about fell out of my chair laughing at that one. The same website has quite a few good stories, even a few by some of the other bloggers that I already read.

    1. Yes, that is where I read that. And I laughed at that also. That is a very good story. And there are a lot of good stories there.

    2. Yes, I have a neighbor that pops speeders with red, loud music blue and loud/no muffler gets Yaller! Fingernail polish is permanent by the time the sun comes up! Just sayin!!

    3. Is he using paintballs? That's a very good idea!

  4. Look up

    Slingshot competition

There are people who travel to day long competition. I've watched a fair bit. Only thing I learned was accuracy is better with flat strips than surgical tubing.

    1. I don't think a day long competition would be my cup of tea.

  5. Use eye protection, I learned that one the hard way.

  6. I have one as well as replacement power bands, but my practice has been mediocre. It does require some time to learn trajectory in tight spots where vegetation will block your target. My practice included hiding the target behind vegetation - most small game and perched birds will NOT be in plain view. These do require improved stalking skills too.

I instead have several air rifles / pistols. Much bulkier than a slingshot but nearly as silent and far easier to shoot accurately.

    1. I was looking at the bands on mine they are starting to wear.

  7. Man, I have my wrist rocket from when I was a kid. I was pretty good with it too. I pulled it out, need new bands, these are cracked and crumbly. I used to hit squirrels and birds with it.

    1. I need to get proficient with mine. Maybe some paintballs laced with pepper spray.
