If you are like me, you like to be prepared for hard times as much as practicable.
One of those hard times I prepare for is loss of power. Two Thanksgivings back the whole neighborhood lost power the night before, and didn't get it back until noon the next day, which was Thanksgiving. People up and down my street were loading their stuff up, going to their mom's or grandmom's to cook their turkeys.
My wife and I had just that summer purchased and installed several solar panels and charge control and battery with inverter. (By the way, the inverter came from a company called Windy Nation, and failed about 1 minute out of warranty. They refused to help me with the problem, I had to buy a new inverter elsewhere.) Anyway, that 600 watt solar panel system with battery let us keep 2 refrigerators and 1 upright freezer going, so we didn't lose any food.
Gas generators are great, but they are noisy, and what happens when you run out of gas? Here in my state of calif, our gallant governor newsom would shut gas stations down due to The Covid, in my opinion, or limit their hours of operation or how much gas you can buy, if he could do so. Again, that is my opinion.
Anyway, here is a link to an article I found about small scale solar, and I would like to share it with you.
Here is the article for you to read.
