Tonight I had to make a late night run to the big target store down in fresno. The lovely mrs. had a medical issue, and needed an over the counter solution.
I originally stopped at the local dollar general and perused the medicinal supplies aisle, and I was rather shocked at the sparseness of the selections. When we were there seven days ago, the entire store was well stocked including the medicinal aisle. But tonight approximately 50% of the otc medical supplies were missing.
So, on to fresno, to the big target store. Where I find the exact same situation of otc supplies being approximately 50% missing. Shocked. I was shocked I tell you, because we were there about seven days ago, and the otc medical supplies were fully stocked.
I was able to find the particular product I was looking for at a very reasonable price. And no, I am not telling what the product was.
Maybe both places had just had a delivery, I don't know.
But. I am thinking of checking my prep supply of my otc meds, and maybe adding to them.
What do you guys think? What otc meds would you recommend that might keep for a long time? I have several bottles of ibuprofen that i know are at least 13 years old, maybe more. But I think they are useable.
Welcome to Venezuela. Enjoy your stay.
ReplyDeleteGee thanks, can I go home now?
DeleteIt's been months since Gatorade has been well stocked. They are loading shelves with BS just like the cardboard Fans in the stadium. Bogus.. Ludens cough drops? Empty the last two weeks. Food ,so far, is there.
ReplyDeleteI'm not betting on that to continue.
Locally gatorade seems to be well stocked, at least at target where we go.
DeleteSome bug is going around town (mid-Michigan). The line at the drive-through Covid place reached to the road.
ReplyDeleteFor the record, there is a Shelf-life Extension Program run by the Department of Defense. Among the champs for longevity are acetaminophen (aka, Tylenol) and caffeine with almost no degradation after twenty years of storage.
Glad to hear the shelf life is long.
DeleteBeing a prepper type person for a long time, I've stocked large bottles of aspirin (325mg and 81mg), acetaminophen and naproxen. These were all bought on Amazon for the lowest price that was available. I also keep Dulcolax and loperamide (Imodium) on hand. Supposedly, the shelf life of loperamide is 3 years, but I've used some that is more than ten years old and it was fine. I do rotate it out, but keep some older stock if it still works. Antibiotics are also good to have on hand. You can get them online at places like PetMed or Chewy. I have amoxicillin, doxycycline, cipro and cephalexin in stock. You never know when these will be in short supply or no longer available......
ReplyDeleteI havent stocked up on antibiotics, i will check those 2 places
DeleteBe leery of Tetracycline. It can degrade to toxicity in a more shorter time. If you have the means to get a titer kit, it will help you determine the efficiencies of antibiotics and vitamins and maintenance meds like levothyzoxine, atenolol, etc because they do have a definite shelf life
