I won a costume contest in 1985. I dressed as Adolf Hitler, and my uniform was put together by a member of a local historical society who set me up with a period correct clothing and such. The prize was $100. They took my picture with the check, and called me the next day to revoke it, as the picture would be in the local paper that incidentally also put the money up.
