I have made a rocket stove out of bricks. And I made a pot of coffee with it. Didn't take a lot of wood either. Frankly it was rather surprising how easy it was to make. And the coffee wasn't too bad either. Sure beat the hell out of starbucks.

I have also made a homemade water filter, but not like any of the ones in the article. I used carbon filters I bought at Lowes. 

Charcoal will filter out a heck of a lot of stuff, but not the really nasty stuff like bacteria and virus. Etc.

"The Rent's Too Damn High!" So is food. I should be back Saturday night.

I think I told you about the price of eggs here locally, at $5.75 dozen for AA.

And then I think I told you about the single tomato, that still sits there, the store wanted $3.49 each for.

The other day I went to Dollar General. I got a single can of spinach, and yes I do like spinach. Put in a pot, heat it up, place in a bowl, salt the heck out of it. MMM MMM Good! $1.75 for a normal size can. This time last year they were 85 cents for a can. That's just a little over 100% increase.

 I have been a shadetree mechanic for 62 years or so. But most of the time I did not have a shade to work under, except when I was under the car.

But sway bar bushings never entered my life until this last year. The end links for the sway bar on my wifes car had to be replaced. Holy smokes, I drove it down the freeway and that car was rocking side to side. Holy smokes it was rockin.

And then a couple of months after that my grandson decided to put all new front end parts on his durango, and that included sway bar bushings. So I volunteered my driveway for that, and I made a hell of a supervisor that day.

I think this was one of the videos I watched for that ordeal.

Anyway, I don't have enough ammo to go thru an invasion like this. I haven't shot in several years because I was conserving my ammo. I am rusty. Very rusty. But my guns aren't.

So it looks like I will have to swallow my pride, and go buy some more ammo.

I don't know if it was in this article, but I read somewhere that truckers deliver about 70 to 80% of the nations stuff. Including food.

What happens if those trucks stop delivering?

Rule of 3?? From what I have read, most grocery stores only have about 3 days of food on the shelves. Huh. After 3 days, what happens if there are no deliveries.

I don't believe those numbers, though. I think it is closer to 100%. If a train or plane or boat delivers, how does that get from the railyard or the plane yard or the shipyard to its final destination??

Looks like like some truckers are saying not me, not going to NYC.

I don't think 2 or 3 hundred thousand soldiers would be too many to guard that border.

If each state put their own guard troops on the border with orders to fire at will, we could stop this invasion.

Geez Louise, I went to the grocery store.

 The other day I complained about the price of eggs. Today I am complaining about the price of everything else.

Holy schlamoly have you seen the price of groceries?

For $29.30 I got a plastic bag half full of actual groceries, 1 gallon of Sunny D original taste, and 5 lbs. of russet potatoes.

I remember when I was a small tyke going with my Momma to Parkers Grocery Store, $29.30 was two carts full of groceries.

I just about crapped my pants when I saw the price of a normal size can of chili.

$4.49 for a can of chili with no beans. The brand was Stagg. Hormel chili no beans was $3.99 for a normal size can. And Hormel chili with beans was $2.99.

Holy shit.

But wait. There's more.

The main reason I went to the store was to get a tomato. I wanted a tomato for an afternoon snack.

So there I was, wandering around the produce section, looking at all of the veggies on display.

Then I come to the table with tomatoes. 

Large tomatoes. These things were at least 4 inches in diameter. Producto de Mexico.

$3.49 for ONE tomato. One.

My eyes just kind of glazed over when I saw that. Well, forget my afternoon snack. No way in hell I'm payin that.

Then I found vine tomatoes. 5 to a vine, about 2 inches in diameter. $3.49 for one pound. So I bought those.

It looks like I will rethink my plan to not grow any veggies this summer.

The Wheels on My Truck Go Round and Round

 Glad to be home.

Drove from  my home in Madera California to Lubbock Texas. From there we drove to Fort Riley Kansas to see my grandson. And from there we drove back to Madera.

3,692 miles total. Feb. 2 to last night Feb. 9. It was snow in Flagstaff on the 2nd, which caused Interstate 40 to be completely stopped for about 20 minutes then we got going again.

Had really high winds in New Mexico. 

When we left Texas winds were really high, when we left Kansas winds were really high. Snow was happening again in Gallup NM and over to Flagstaff.

The powers that be closed interstate 40 on the east side of Gallup NM over to Flagstaff at 7PM and then reopened it at 8AM the next morning. 

They closed it 10 miles before our hotel. Fortunately we were able to snowplow thru some side streets and got there okay.

Waited around the next morning until we knew it was open and then headed for drier pastures.

Court Blocks California’s Crazy Ammunition Purchase Restrictions ~ Rhode v. Bonta

 For now, California's law requiring background checks to purchase ammunition has been stopped.

I expect some court somewhere will issue an injunction to stay this ruling until the state can appeal.

Before this law was imposed I was buying as much ammo as I could afford. Since the law was imposed I have not shot any of my ammo up. I refuse to do a background check. Fuck em. 

I did at one time decades ago submit to a background check to buy a rifle, but since then I have hardened my stance. I won't buy any more if I have to endure the check.

Do you remember this case? Where the fbi seized a shitload of safety deposit boxes without a warrant?

Apparently they had a warrant for a few of them but decided to seize them all.

That has been a few years ago and this is just now sorta kinda getting resolved.

The rule of law used to be a social compact where everybody agreed to follow the laws. Because when you don't follow the law chaos reigns supreme.

And that is what is happening. Chaos. Too many people don't want to follow the law. 

And who can blame them? I can't. There are too many laws. And most of those are just plain stupid and obviously about making the populace do what WE tell you to do, not what YOU want to do.
