What an Asshole

I posted a question about a doorknob recently and asked if anyone knew where to find a certain size knob.

A reader responded to look at a website called DirectDoorHardware, and I have done that. And I thank you for the link.

However.

Here is the headline that greets you when you get to the page:

DOOR KNOBS FOR SMALL BORE HOLE 1-1/2 INCH TO 1-3/4 INCH

And that is exactly what I need. So I call them up to order a doorknob and the guy proceeds to tell me that if I had read the article, I would see that no doorknobs of that size are made.
And I responded I don't need to read the article, I saw your header and that led me to believe that you sell doorknobs of the size I require, and I want to order one.

He said if I had read the article I would know that none are made for that size.

I responded your header says you sell doorknobs for that size.
So then he says I called him up just to criticize, to which I replied that i did not, that I wanted to order a doorknob.

Then he called me ridiculous for that.

Thats where it degenerated.

Anyway, my point is if you put something on your website that leads people to believe you sell that something, then sell it.

    1. No worries. I thought that was the solution I was wanting, me and that company just didn't hit it off right. Thank you for the link though. Now I have an answer to my dilemma, and can proceed forthwith.

  2. They used to call that 'false advertising' and could be taken to court; if nothing more than just to have them change the wording or remove said ad, but nooooooo. All is fair on the web, unless you say something about boms, terists, cheegroes, or wore mongering.
Perhaps get fellow bloggers to call up and ask for the ever elusive small bore door knobs..like a hundred guys calling in an hour with the same issue.
    That'll teach 'em.

    1. That isn't the point, I already knew about a solution. Their webpage is misleading.

  4. Perhaps a house nearby, built in the same era, has the same doors/hardware. Wink-wink.
