DeleteI wish that were the case. Big oil gonna make big money and campaign contributions before mid terms. I think little people gonna get big pissed off and make their own big contributions in the same direction.
ReplyDeleteIt's not, it's controlled by futures contracts. Kind of dumb that people like the "blame" gas prices on politics. It's simply supply/demand, and the price people refer to is actually the futures contracts pricing. With oil prices high the US (which is already the #1 producer of oil) can now tap the shale oil fields. Typically it doesn't make economic sense to do that until oil reaches about $85 a barrel, so now we can once again start to ramp up production at the current rate. Already seeing this happening in the ND and CO basins.
ReplyDeleteAnd cutting off OUR supply creates less supply for us and the world. Which raises the price. And if nobody will increase their production to save us from needing Russian oil, I guess we can just pay what the Russians demand.

I think it will be good countries reject us, we pull back into an isolationist stance and quit sending military, military hardware and money, technology. Send everyone not a citizen and that includes residents and foriegn students back and get our house in order.
