The problem being that when the real "hard times" happen, like a food crisis, as he says, or worse, this guy and everyone like him now have a big target on their backs. For his sake I hope he's well enough away from any urban area and has enough food and ammo to feed the small army he will need to defend his little corner of heaven. If not, he's dead, his family is dead, and that food is now in the hands of whichever anarchist mob gets there first. So, while you're budgeting for your farmstead food gardens, you better include dehydrating and packing up a big bug-out box or prepare to defend it with extreme violence if needed.
