Damn sight cheaper than a Food Saver with all the bags and other necessities to make it work. We used to take teeny bags, place them in a phone book with the edge barely hanging out between the center pages, and put a match or lighter to the edge, and melt it sealed. Using a gallon freezer Zip, one would only need "part" of a phone book, or something to hold the edge sealed, while torching the edge. Does that makes sense? It could work with some experimentation.
This does NOT vacuum seal, the regular ziplock bags do NOT keep air out and it is a waste of water but hey, have fun! And when you're throwing out the food that you "sealed" using this NONSENSE method don't say I didn't warn you.
Just buy the damn sealer, this is nonsense.
ReplyDeleteIt isn't nonsense. Looks like it works well to me.

I think I'm gonna give this a shot and see how it works. I can't dance so I might as well try food preservation.
